The Last One by Will Dean (Atria)
The protagonist of the tale is Caroline (Caz) Ripley, who discovers that the Atlantica cruise ship is completely empty when she wakes up by herself. The book is full of quick-paced, action-packed chapters that will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you reconsider ever setting foot on a cruise ship again.
Excellent character development and a sinister twist on the traditional locked room thriller are features of this compelling book. Because Caz is such a likable and relatable protagonist, you can't help but cheer for her throughout this suspenseful thriller.
In my opinion, some of the explanations about Caz's background were superfluous given how much action-packed the plot already is.
A really thrilling read, The Last One explores issues of family, trust, and the will to live. You're never bored because each chapter ends on a cliffhanger that keeps you interested and moves the plot along.
This book explores the idea of survival of the fittest, which will make you feel uneasy for a while.
The Last One is a very fast-paced and engaging read because of Will Dean's extraordinary narrative abilities. Get ready to turn the pages with excitement and find out the exciting resolution.
