Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney (HQ)
My appreciation for Alice Feeney's works grows with each new book I read. The author masterfully plays with the interpretation of the darkest corners of the human soul. Her characters are vibrant, relatable, and full of hidden resentments and traumas.
Amber is no different. A woman in a coma does not recall how she ended up at the hospital. She doubts her husband; her memory is like a jigsaw; the pieces do not fit together, no matter how hard she tries. She is immobilized physically, but her consciousness is active and lively. Will she be able to solve the riddle and track down her assailant?
The book is full of twists, turns, and symbolism from beginning to end. The author knows well the human psyche, relations between people, various addictions, especially to alcohol, the consequences of guilt and good behavior, the influence of bullies on adult life, and much more.
A brilliant psychological thriller that I highly recommend!
