Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty (Henry Holt and Co.)
A perfect novel for all of us who like to delve into family relationships.
Parents Stan and Joy Delaney have a seemingly healthy marriage, and an orderly life, but why are they so unhappy? When a stranger appears at their front door, and they hospitably offer her a temporary home, everything turns upside down. When Joy disappears, Stan becomes the first suspect, and the grown-up children begin to interfere in the situation.
No one is without secrets, hidden grievances are coming to light, and tensions and suspicions are high.
What do we even know about our loved ones, do we even know them really?
In this excellent novel, Liane Moriarty masters family dynamics, interpersonal emotions and relationships. Her knowledge of people is almost superhuman.
Brilliant reading.
