The Inheritance by Howard Linskey (Penguin)
Sarah is a struggling author and when her aunt Evelyn dies, she could inherit a vast fortune, including a Cragsmoor Manor that was once a home of the Woodfell family, the family where lived aunt's friend Lucy and who disappeared without a trace decades ago. Sarah has to resolve the mystery to get the inheritance.
Sarah is almost getting used to Evie’s idea,
however eccentric. There is a certain cold logic to it and the case sounds intriguing.
When she moves into the manor, she meets different people, everyone with a secret or two. And the manor seems haunted, too. The danger is lurking from every corner.
Prepare for a perfectly crafted family drama, scenic descriptions, and vivid characters. The plot is well developed, just the ending is too simple for my taste.
Regardless, the book is worth reading.
